Down came the big box of Christmas lights from the loft, and out came the big ladder. Christmas is on the way, and that means it’s time to get the lights up. My job was to hold the ladder steady while Robin climbed up high to reach the guttering. He had the delicate job of attaching the little plastic clips, and threading the long string of LED lights through. An extra couple of strings went along the outside of the fence. With our rope light spiral Christmas Tree by the front door, things are starting to look rather festive.
But he wasn’t finished yet. He then strung a couple of extra strings of light out in our patio area. By the time it was finished it looked very pretty indeed. Of course, celebrating the Christmas season in mid summer, as we do down here in New Zealand, means that it doesn’t get dark till quite late. All the lights are twinkling merrily away.
