It was time for a change – we have changed our telephone provider. The salesman came and talked things over with us, and the benefits certainly make it worthwhile. Not that we changed immediately, you know, we like to ponder these things and make sure that it really is the best thing to do, and keep the salesman on his toes. We get to keep our current telephone number, which is handy. And increased broadband limits too, that made Robin’s eyes light up! Not that we ever seem to use up our allowance anyway, but he is one of these “internet surfers” who while away time on the computer looking at this and that.
The changeover yesterday all went very smoothly. There was no trouble at all with the phone line. Part of the service was a telephone call to run through the changes we needed to make to set up the computer with the new provider. Being rather computer savvy Robin had no trouble at all following the instructions, in fact he mentioned that he was one step ahead all the way. Lucky it wasn’t me trying to set things up – I work on a “need to know” basis. (If I need to know how to do it, I’ll learn, other wise it’s all too hard for me!)
So now it’s just a matter of letting everyone on our email lists know about the change to our email address. Some we have done as a group email, such as the caravan club members and Yahoo for our special interest groups. “Keep a .list of who you have contacted”, I suggested to Robin, “then we know where we are up to”. Others will have to be contacted individually, such as the companies who bill by internet. Then there are friends, family and pen friends – maybe I’ll get in touch with them and send each a catch-up email as well, so that will take a little longer. It also gives us a chance to streamline our address list a little, or perhaps contact those whom we have lost touch with. But we are getting there, and pleased with how easy the changeover went.
