Tony, the boss at Wanaka Auto Electrical advised that the missing batteries would be trucked through by 11.30am. Well, you know what they say about “the best laid plans”. We waited, and waited, and waited, and Tony kept phoning the truck driver to remind him that he had customers waiting so where was the delivery? “He’s not answering the phone any more”, Tony finally told us. In the meantime, Robin removed the squabs and covers ready for the work to be done. Muffy thought this nice empty space was just for her to play in.
So…. the new batteries go in here?
Finally, the truck arrived. Thank goodness, we had been waiting for ages. Tony went out to give the truck driver a hand carrying the batteries in to the workshop.
It didn’t take Tony too long at all to fit the new batteries into place and wire them up.
So just what was wrong with our old batteries? When they were first tested several days earlier they seemed fine. But an overnight load test proved that they were not holding a charge and needed to be replaced. The batteries are not fit for purpose as they were “stand by” batteries and not “deep cycle” batteries, as we thought they were. We will be taking our old batteries back to where we purchased them and will expect a refund. They are only twelve months old, and we now believe that what we were sold was not capable of doing the job.
We are really pleased with the service we received from Tony and his team at Wanaka Auto Electrical. The fact that the delivery was late was not his fault, and he went out of his way to try and get the batteries to his workshop as soon as possible. Good on you, Wanaka Auto Electrical, for such professional, friendly service in our time of need. If you are ever in Wanaka and need an Auto Electrician we fully recommend this company.
